baby! In the right place and growing!
A bit of a crazy day as I went to the doctor (another two hour saga involving a resident, but, thankfully sans Anja), and was told that my last ultrasound showed "a uterine cyst, too early to determine embryonic structure" and "a large cyst in the right adnexal (ovary) with possible vascular involvment." It was the "possible vascular involvement" that freaked me out.
I arrived at the ultrasound heart-pounding and had the same tech-who-thinks-she's-a-doctor (the actual resident at the doctor's office asked, when I said I would set up an appointment after the ultrasound, very sweetly asked "How will you know the results?" "Oh," I said. "Techs talk. You only get worried when they stop talking at all and go get the radiologist." "Well," she said. "They are not supposed to") as last time. Wierdness of gross wierdnesses and more than a little creepy, she told me to undress with her in the room while she set up her equipment. Now, I know in 30 seconds she was going to stick a very large wand up my vagina, but please! A modicum of privacy and decency was called for, and isn't it just standard good practice for medical professionals to leave the room while you are changing/ie removing your clothes completely from the waist down? Is this not a wierd violation? Is this not why they give you a sheet to cover yourself with? Did I have the right to ask her to please leave and return? Why don't I stick up for myself in these situations? Really, I was just beside myself about the possiblity of ectopic, befuddled, etc.
So, she spotted the embryonic sac within two seconds - clearly it's grown since Thursday. Too early to see the heartbeat, but sigh. My little embryo.
Together again…

yay!!! and i definitely agree about the privacy thing! i'm always terrified the doctor's going to walk in right as i'm in mid-change or haven't gotten the paper sheet positioned yet... anyway, very awkward to have to change in their presence!
